Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
On a day-to-day basis, I work with large datasets to identify trends and provide insights, maintain and improve reporting tools, coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve operational issues, support fleet vehicle planning and auction processes, and communicate updates through professional reports, presentations, and meetings. The role has helped me develop strong analytical, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I also worked on cross-functional projects involving different teams across the business, where I was responsible for tracking progress, communicating with stakeholders, and ensuring actions were completed on time. Being given ownership of these tasks allowed me to develop confidence, improve my problem-solving abilities, and gain valuable experience working in a professional business environment.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have significantly improved my data analysis and reporting skills by working with large datasets, tracking KPIs, and creating reports and presentations to support business decisions. I have become more confident using tools such as Excel, and Microsoft Office applications to analyse data and present insights clearly to stakeholders.
I have also strengthened my problem-solving skills by investigating operational issues, identifying root causes, and collaborating with different teams to implement solutions. Through managing fleet-related processes and supporting various projects, I have developed better project management and organisational skills, learning how to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
In addition, I have enhanced my communication and stakeholder management skills by regularly working with colleagues across departments such as Finance, Marketing, Aftersales, Fleet Operations, and IT. This has helped me become more confident in presenting information, leading discussions, and building professional relationships.

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
At the same time, as an intern, there were occasions when I felt there was a distinction between placement students and permanent employees. Recommendations & Advice
Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
What advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK
I would encourage applicants to make the most of the networking opportunities, build relationships across the business, and take ownership of projects whenever possible. However, it is also important to be realistic about future employment prospects. While the company offers graduate and permanent opportunities, these positions can be highly competitive, and not all placement students will secure a role after their internship.
Therefore, I would recommend using the placement as an opportunity to gain experience, develop your skills, and strengthen your CV, while also keeping an open mind about career opportunities both within and outside the company.
