Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Worked as a mentor in an alternative provision where we helped children develop their socio emotional skills, attendance and behaviour. We worked with SEN children and high behaviour ones to help them get back into a school environment i.e. mainstream and also helping children who found it hard to get into school.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I loved my placement it was the most fulfilling year , I couldn’t have thought of a better company to do it with and especially having that experience of an AP really helped me develop such valuable skills.

What advice would you give to others applying to City Year UK

Do it and just take everyday as it comes it was hard at the beginning in the AP I was at but with the support of everyone in City Year it became the most amazing experience and I have grown so much. So just get involved with everything they have to offer - which is so much!
