Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Currently on a university placement, serving as a full-time mentor and role model to pupils, providing 1:1 mentoring and
classroom support to pupils with SEND, neurodiversity and additional needs.
– Liaising closely with the SENCO and other teaching staff to provide tailored pastoral support, behaviour management,
and reintegration strategies, supporting pupils’ successful transition back into mainstream education.
– Supporting school operations including lesson support, marking/data entry, organising trips and facilitating events.
– Taking part in City Year UK’s Leadership Development Programme, including accredited CMI Level 3 training,
professional development workshops and corporate mentoring.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

We have had a range of responsibilities including mentoring various pupils, meet and greeting pupils in the morning, going on school trips and supporting teaching staff

I have been able to develop leadership and speaking skills as I have been able to participate in a lot of public speaking sessions. I have also been able to improve on my team working skills.
