Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
- Worked as a student volunteer mentor primarily working with Year 7 students in a Greater Manchester high school
- Providing in-classroom academic support and behaviour management with additional tailored support for students with special educational needs
- Delivering 1-to-1 or group mentoring sessions to improve social-emotional learning
- Delivering English tutoring using the software IXL Learning
- Setting long-term and short-term goals with students to improve their confidence, self-esteem and wellbeing
- Collaborated with teachers and head of year team in terms of supporting students academically and pastorally as well as safeguarding procedures
- Running lunchtime clubs to improve wellbeing and engagement
- Handling break and lunch duty shifts to ensure punctual behaviour and safety during social times
- Chaperoning on school trips to ensure student safety, participation and behaviour
