Audit Associate (Intern) Review

Audit includes the analysis and testing of financial accounts. At the start of my internship there was a large onboarding and training period, including 2 of the finance exams. Once settled in, my day to day may include planning or catchup meetings with clients management, internal team meetings, travelling to client site very often, testing of a financial account, data cleaning.

I was given the responsibility of a typical first year graduate at the firm. We were treated the same as them.

I have developed profficieny in excel, data cleaning and presentation, reconciliations and pulling meaningful insights to support an audit conclusion
I have greatly improved my confidence in speaking/communicating professionally, presenting, being a part of a team and my general industry knowledge. I have a much bigger general confidence aswell.
In the firm you have great visibility of higher ups as you work in mixed teams with partners, seniors, managers, part qualified seniors and staff at your own level. You learn a lot about a lot from everyone.

There is so much support and guidance. Everyone is willing to help you learn and always encourages you to ask as many questions as possible. You are also given a buddy and a councillor when you join.

The general atmosphere is positive. EY promote both hybrid and flexible working. We may be an agreed team office day, be on client site the next day and then working from home the next day. Therefore the atmosphere in the office varies depending on business, but everyone is overall positive. Teamwork and collaboration is promoted hard. There is a wide range of social activities and events.

I widely enjoyed it. I gained a lot of experience. It was more full on than expected so I was tired at times, especially during busy season.
