Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My overview role is to manage the service schedule for B2C pallets. My job is to ensure all pallets are in service and not causing harm to our employees. In addition I sort of act as an assistant to my boss.

Yeah I definitely learnt a lot. Naturally my people skills developed, in addition i have been working with excel almost everyday increasing my competency with that.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

Really not much at all. The BMW is system is that the previous intern handovers their work and teaches the new intern how things work. However in my case my department did not have a previous intern leading to me not having much guidance in the first few weeks of my placement. Others in the office did support at times however they do not all have time to micromanage the intern.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Pretty damn vulgar in my office. But in other offices it was very professional. I did enjoy my office environment but id be lying if i said it didn't take some getting used to.

I enjoyed it. But the problem i have with work is not necessarily tied to BMW its more the cycle of work.

What advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK

Do your research about company values and the departments role. In addition I strongly believe that most employers care more about character than raw skill. Show some personality, crack some joke most importantly you want to stand out. Why should they remember YOU. Give them a reason.
