Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Data analysis and exploration, maintaining and improving production tools, making sense of messy data and providing actionable insights to stakeholders
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes, a huge amount. I was entrusted with presenting my project to the head of BMW Global Powertrains, make changes on demand to live production tools, build dashboards used everyday by my department.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Coming from a Mathematics background, I had very limited coding experience in general. Since starting this placement, I have developed my SQL ability to the point where I can take an abstract problem and deliver a meaningful solution. I have also gained experience with Python and Machine learning, VBA Macros (Excel), DAX Code (Power BI) and SharePoint.

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
A good amount but could have been more. I was the first intern in our department which meant no formal handover, so I had to figure out a lot of stuff myself. However, everyone was willing to help when I asked for it.

Very warm and welcoming, like everyone was a part of a big family. No Gossip/blame culture

Show genuine passion for the company. Everyone will have the technical skills and ability during the final interview stages, but not everyone will have a genuine enthusiasm to join that specific company
