Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My role as a HR Management Intern within the Leadership Partner Team involved supporting HR Business Partner activities. On a day-to-day basis, my role involved Absence Management, Employee Support, Administrative Tasks, supporting with Disciplinary and Grievance cases, as well as many other tasks. I was also fortunate enough to be included and a part of many enabler groups which gave me many projects to get involved with which go beyond the HRM role.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given responsibility for developing a new absence management tool and frequently created presentations for senior leaders. I worked with a high level of autonomy, without close supervision, and was trusted to manage my workload and deliver to a high standard.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture was great, everyone was really welcoming and friendly. It’s a tough time for the car manufacturing industry at the moment, which can be challenging, but despite this, the overall attitude across the plant remains very positive. The CSR activities are also brilliant, bringing together the whole plant and their families for great causes (e.g. the charity football match and the charity rounders family day).
