Communications and Branding Review

I work within the Investment Banking division doing media relations and internal communications. This involves creating and distributing an EMEA-wide research newsletter, emailing journalists, setting up analyst interviews and TV appearances with the media, managing the digital screens across the London office and creating and distributing Uk-wide emails/memos.

Yes, I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement year but ample support from the team and especially line manager. I was able to flag any workload concerns to them or take on more responsibility if I wished.

I have definitely developed lots of new skills. These include stronger skills using Microsoft Office, email communication, creative skills in branding design, public speaking.

I received lots of support during my placement. I had biweekly 1:1s with both my line managers and could reach out to them at any point. They made sure to check in with me personally and professionally on workload as well as enjoyment of the placement. The rest of the team were lovely too, and were very supportive.

It was a lovely team atmosphere. Everyone was very open, chatty and positive. People outside of my team were always open to having coffee chats and sharing their career journeys. But they also wanted me to get a lot from the time on placement.

I loved my placement. I never felt like an intern or given those responsibilities. I was treated as an equal member of the team, a proper junior staff member. I had a great team by my side and thoroughly enjoyed the work.
