Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

As an IT Project Manager in a security team during my 12-month industrial placement at P&G, my role focused on reducing operational risk and streamlining global compliance processes. On a day-to-day basis, my responsibilities involved: developing Automation Solutions and Project Leadership

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

Yes, during my placement at Procter & Gamble, I significantly expanded both my technical and professional skill sets:

- Technical Skills & Automation: I advanced my programming and data skills by using Python and SQL to design and deploy compliance workflows and automated data export pipelines.
- ​Project Management & GRC: I developed strong capabilities in enterprise-scale Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) processes, framework alignment, and risk mitigation.
​- Cross-Functional Leadership: I built key stakeholder management skills by leading cross-functional teams to deliver objectives.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture perfectly balanced the scale of a global enterprise with the tight-knit, welcoming feel of a regional community.
​Operating within P&G’s Newcastle hub, the atmosphere was incredibly collaborative, supportive, and inclusive. While the work itself had a massive global impact

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I grew up a lot during my time at P&G and throughly enjoyed it. Being handed real ownership of global, enterprise-scale projects forced me to step out of my comfort zone and build genuine professional maturity. The structured review periods were particularly impactful the consistent, constructive feedback gave me clear benchmarks for my progress and directly pushed me to refine my skills
