Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
I take calls from people who are wanting to book flights change flights or have any questions about their account or re booking cancelled flights. As an apprentice I also have a tutor with coursework that I have to complete alongside the job role. The apprenticeship gives me access to better opportunities that other colleagues don't have because they are not on the apprenticeship. For example I have been able to network with other people across the business. I have also had the opportunity to shadow different departments within my office to see how they work and gain knowledge and experience from them. I have worked on projects on helping aid the office to achieve business goals which was good to put my ideas for. As an apprentice you feel like more part of a team because there are more opportunities to gain knowledge skills and experience that isn't given to our other colleagues that aren't on an apprenticeship. I have also been able to become a mentor on this platform to share my experience and give advice and help others who are interested in joining BA.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I enjoy the role very much and it is a very rewarding role. It can be challenging at times if a customer is upset or unhappy but I always try and find solutions to their problems.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
There are lots of systems I use in my daily role so I have gained skills on how to use those. I have also gained skills such as time management, communication skills, problem solving skills, and working under pressure.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
It's well organised and structured and there's lots of support if you need it. The training for the role is 6 weeks however I feel like the training is just the basics and you learn a lot on the role.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
There's support on hand to help and we have designated specialists to help if needed. You can also receive support from managers if you need extra time to work on something that you don't quite understand.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

3/5
I received support when I needed it, however I didn't really need the help. The deadlines for the work weren't strict and it could take some time for a response especially since we are only given set times to complete the course work so you might not get a response until the next time you're assigned to do the coursework.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
The qualification has given me more time for learning and training that people in the standard role might not have so I have been able to learn more and shadow different departments to help understand different roles better which helps me perform better in my own role

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
There are supplier events where you can go to a restaurant and a supplier such as a hotel will tell you about what they have to offer. There are trips where you could be selected to go to destinations and tour the hotels. There are awards events and extra events around Christmas.

BA care about passion and motivation. If youre applying you need to be passionate about working for BA and really believe in the company. You also have to be the best version of yourself.
