Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

It involves actively contributing to the audit team and performing client facing work. You are given a level of responsibility very early on with support from more senior members of the team to aid development.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

EY provides a great working environment - there are always social activites going on around the office and there is often a focus on mental and physical wellbeing activities as well as many charity fund raisers that you can get involved in.
Apprentices are very well supported in their roll and are assigned a coach to support in exam progression, as well as a counsellor to support in career progression. Apprentices in audit work on multiple different teams, giving them the opportunity to learn about multiple different business and to get to know a wide range of people and to learn from the experience of those around them.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have developed multiple soft skills, such as communicating with clients and senior members of the team and learning to manage my time effectively.
I have also gained a lot of experience specific to performing audit and feel confident working on multiple different accounts within a business.

There are very many social event put on by the social team within the Leeds office at EY, there are additionally multiple sports clubs to join as well as pilates and running events put on by the local office complex. There are many charty events that employees can get involved in with a lot of more adventurous opportunities, as well as creative activities and some more classic team building social events.

Don't get too nervous when applying - at the apprenticeship recruitment level, employers are looking for sensible individuals who would be a positive contribution to the office culture and with a willingness to learn.
