Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I started learning all about the basics of being on the salon shop floor: how to clean, do the washing, make a good coffee, good customer service skills. Once these skills developed I started speaking to clients more often, slowly building up my clientele and understanding how to work as a team with the other staff.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Really developed my social skills, how to deal with different kinds of people, how to push sales and retail products to clients and how to manage time.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
We had a weekly training plan so we knew exactly what we would be learning each week and how I could carry these skills through into the working week at the salon to master the skills.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My employer has always helped/guided me from the start to be the best hairdresser and person possible, no limiting beliefs on how much or what I could and can achieve in life.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
All the staff at Exceed training company helped me succeed and be a confident young stylist.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I am proud I have achieved a distinction on my level 3 hairdressing apprenticeship and this gave me confidence in my skill set and that I am a capable hairstylist who knows what to do and when.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
We go to awards where I can network with so many cool hairdressers and we also go to events like Haircon and salon international.

So many opportunities to become an amazing hairdresser if that’s truly what your dream is, they push you to strive through keeping up with skills, practicing on doll heads, keeping up with off the jobs (a work log) and really give you all the knowledge about hair to be able to create some beautiful hair and make people feel amazing about themselves.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Exceed Training Company?

Always try your best, be there on time every week as this shows respect to the tutors and a willingness to learn, find YOUR why/purpose of coming into the industry and remind yourself of that everytime it gets difficult and always ask for help if it’s needed.
