Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I have to study alongside work. I go to college every 3 months or so and learn the content of the exam, then revise in my own time. At work i perform tax due diligence on buy-side and sell-side of corporate mergers and acquisitions
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I find the work and exams very rewarding

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I came in knowing nothing about tax, and my team have been very supportive and helpful in training me and helping me

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
There is a clear structure, and you can see when you will be studying exams 3 years from now. However, the structure is very rigid and will not flex if you have an exceptional circumstance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Most sessions are in person, but some are online self-study. You can always contact the tutor if you have any questions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Performing due diligence means that I have to look into every function of the business, and the topics I've studied mean that I understand how a business is supposed to work, so I can see what may be wrong
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are over 50 sports teams as part of the sports network, and there are also other networks you can get involved in (early careers, social mobility, LGBTQ, etc.) which allow you to meet other people with similar interests to you.

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Everyone I have met at EY is very friendly and supportive, and the work I do is very interesting.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
There are a lot of different systems and tools to get used to, but once you've figured them out they make life much easier
