Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My day to day role includes learning, shadowing and working within whatever placement I am in at the time. I do one full day a week of lectures and learning for my foundation degree. My activities day to day can vary greatly due to the dynamic nature of the automotive manufacturing environment that I am in. From robotics and machine learning to quality topics and health and safety.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The learning experience and I have had so far is outstanding and I am excited for the rest of my time in the plant across the different placements I have planned.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have been developing a skill set that combines technical competence in manufacturing engineering with growing confidence in digital, data, and AI‑based tools. I have been applying health and safety principles in practical settings, producing clear and well‑structured technical documentation, and communicating information effectively using standardised formats. Alongside this, I have continued to improve my self‑management, initiative, and teamwork through engagement in formal training, reflective learning activities, and the application of new tools to work‑based tasks. In feedback settings I have been told that my managers and training advisors can see clear progression in both my technical capability and professional behaviours, supported by a strong commitment to continuous improvement and structured learning.

Overall very well structured but individual placements are sometimes structured better for apprentices than others.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Any time I have asked for support I have received it. I have frequent one to ones and group in dialogues where queries and issues can be raised and addressed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The overall support from the training Provider BMet and BCU is not amazing. Some individual tutors are very good but the quality of teaching, delivery and set work is poor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Some of the learning is directly relevant but most of the information and skills needed to perform well within my role come from learning directly in placement.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes there are, there are charity events, team building events, and socials.
