I work and manage on a construction site, this has varied from a housing development to building a school and now an office refurbishment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my job role and have progressed through the apprenticehip scheme

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, lots of skills such as planning and organisation, making critical decisions based on information and implementing and promoting health, safety and wellbeing.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The management of my development has been very good through repetition in the early part of the apprenticeship to learn lots of knowledge at different stages of the build and when i become familiar and established, this then changed to start a new project to gain different exposure.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support is always there if needed and there are regular check ins from the managerial hierarchy are often to ensure that i am progressing well.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Support is always on offer from different people within the business and experience people are always able to provide information and support with assignments if required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Given i have experienced different exposure and lots of repetition, i feel more well versed and rounded to tackle new projects in the future rather than being moulded into a particular type of construction. This means that i feel SJR have helped me perform better in my role through the support network and balance of responsibility given to me while being exposed to a variety of projects.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are often charity events which are encouraged to get involved with such as 'pie and pudding' events and this year we are taking on the three peaks challenge!

This is because they value their work force there is the mutual respect to want to improve and better both the business and the employees throughout their career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to SJ Roberts Construction?
I would say, being pro active, enthusiastic and inquisitive is a great way to be. Don't assume information when making decisions and don't be afraid to ask for help if ever you are unsure.
