Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I work in the People Team. Based within shared services, my role covers the full employee lifecycle - from compliance and training to performance development process - supporting a varied workforce across multiple industries and business lines. I spend part of my week at one of our hotels - helping with more day to day HR operational tasks. 6-8 hours a week are dedicated to apprenticeship study time.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I've found my programme genuinely challenging but rewarding, particularly in how directly it connects to my day-to-day work. Being able to apply what I'm learning in real time , across areas like ER, HR process and supporting a complex multi-site business - has made the experience feel meaningful rather than purely academic. It hasn't always been easy to balance the demands of study with a busy role but that challenge has pushed me to develop both my confidence and my capability in ways I don't think I would have otherwise.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I have built my HR knowledge from the ground up in this role. I've developed a solid grounding in employment law and compliance, learned how to manage formal HR processes and built confidence in supporting managers and employees across a complex, multi-site business. Alongside technical knowledge, I've also developed skills in areas like data handling, HR reporting and stakeholder communication.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well structured with clear progression that's easy to understand at each stage. The layout of modules and assessments has made it straightforward to plan my time and stay on track.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I've received excellent support from my employer. My line manager has been very encouraging and accommodating, allowing me the time and flexibility I need to study.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
My training provider has been largely supportive throughout. I have regular touchpoints with my coach and feel comfortable reaching out. However, some of the feedback from assessments seems generic and not entirely constructive.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
The training has noticeable impact on how I approach my role. The knowledge I'm gaining directly informs how I handle situations at work. It's given me more confidence and a stronger framework for decision-making.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

2/5
As a shared services function within a large portfolio business, the opportunity for structured extra-curricular or social activities is fairly limited. While there are occasional events/activities, this isn't a particularly strong area.
