Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at EY?
I have really enjoyed the variety of working on different clients, meeting lots of people within such a large company and then studying in college to pass the CA exams. Having this mix means your year is highly structured with lots of different learning experiences
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Within Audit you normally work on one main client a year and are allocated certain accounts to work on. You own these having full responsibility to test them and aim to identify any inconsistencies and summary of audit differences.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
4/5
Feel strong part of the team, adding value almost instantly.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
4/5
There are good perks. The salary is decent considering that amount of time a graduate goes to college.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
5/5
Learning lots of transferable skills in a large corporate organisation
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
4/5
They is a detailed training structure either on-the-job, through college or through internal learnings

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
5/5
Have a mentor who you can easily reach out too
How is your work-life balance?
3/5
Depends on the time of the year. Annually it works out okay because the summer work load is much less demanding. Jan - April is very busy leading with 10 hour days becoming the norm.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
3/5
Everyone is open and friendly offering lots of support
How would you rate EY initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
4/5
How would you rate EY CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
4/5

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend EY to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Grad scheme is set up very well for an enjoyable experience
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
Not entirely in terms of the audit work I would be performing, however having worked for over a year I'm very comfortable with the day to day job
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to EY?
Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into: both understanding what audit entails as well as the exam structure for CA.
