Commercial Buyer Apprentice Review

As a Commercial Buyer Apprentice at EMR, I support the purchasing and collection of scrap metal from industrial and commercial businesses. My day-to-day role includes prospecting for new customers, maintaining relationships with existing accounts, providing pricing and rebate quotations, and arranging collections.
I also work closely with internal teams such as transport, admin, and weighbridge staff to help resolve issues and ensure customers receive a smooth and professional service. The role requires strong communication, organisation, and problem solving skills in a fast-paced environment.

The programme is well structured and organised, with a good balance between practical workplace learning and apprenticeship work. Expectations are clear and there is good communication around training, progress, and development opportunities.

I receive a lot of support from my employer and management team. My boss and colleagues are always willing to help, answer questions, and provide guidance when needed, which has helped me build confidence and develop within my role.

I feel the qualification directly relates to my role and has helped me perform better in my day-to-day work. I have been able to apply tools, techniques, and knowledge from the course within my role, particularly around communication, customer service, sales, and commercial awareness.
