Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
Learning how to repair and paint vehicles panels using different techniques and methods including masking and spraying the a spray gun.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I enjoy the fact i get to learn at a automotive based college every 6-8 weeks rather than at a standard college a couple of times a week.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I came from Sixth form and have always wanted to work with cars from a young age so this was a great opportunity to get my foot in the door and work my way up gaining experience in the automotive industry.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
From start to finish i have had plenty of support in my apprenticeship and also had opportunities to make my own decisions within the business

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
All of my managers have been extremely supportive and I am grateful for my 1-1 support sessions to catch up on things inside and outside of work

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
1-1 mentor support at Thatcham Research Center which were mostly in person if not it was originally on teams. I made the most out of being at Thatcham as I didn't get much time using the spray gun to practice painting at work.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

3/5
Thatcham tried their hardest to support me to pass my EPA when I felt wobbly during the practice mock exams. Work is different in terms of damage processes, from a body shop to a manufacturing company it was quite challenging switching from one to the other but i gained confidence with my spraying technique

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

1/5
When I started my apprenticehsip there was one social event i joined in the summer but from what i am aware of there has been nothing that has been arranged as an apprentice team.
