Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
I help to design and build digital systems that support business uses. I undertake a large amount of front end and backend code to build these systems.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

3/5
The work aspects of the programme are more enjoyable than the university aspects. Work is more hands on than university and the university content can feel unrelated to what I do at work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I've learnt a large amount of new skills including frontend and backend coding and systems development.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

4/5
The programme at work is well organised and structured well with placements. University is well structured with what modules will be studied and changes to this are communicated clearly.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I receive lots of support at work with regular communications from my team and managers.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

1/5
University support is poor, with content sometimes feeling unrelated to the content that I do at work. Lecturers seem to be unavailable for support requests at most times. Lectures seem to be spread too thin to be able to support students with their needs and questions

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

2/5
The course seems to improve my communication and soft skills more than my development skills, the languages that are taught at university are slightly outdated/have minimal real world applications despite them being "Industry Standard"

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

4/5
Occasionally there is social events for the apprentices and intern networks which makes a nice change to only catching up socially with the others in my cohort.
