Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
as an interior surface centre apprentice, I move around the whole department to get to know every stage of the wood shop process alongside college courses in furniture making and lean manufacturing for the first year

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

4/5
I think its an amazing opportunity for a prestige company that has good benefits, I enjoy the creative side of some things I do and getting to see the bespoke elements is really interesting

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I've learnt many new skills in terms of planning and working processes, as well as the people side of a job like this

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

3/5
I found that in my first year the only downside was sometimes managers of departments weren't told I was doing a placement with them until I turned up on the day and told them myself, and when I went into my second year and the new first years joined, I felt we were pushed aside slightly and weren't given as much support or guidance at all, however our apprentice manager has now changed and its improving

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
the HR department are amazing with any problems I have either at work or personally, my management in my department as stated above were good in the beginning but this year weren't as supportive

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
while in college, I found my tutor to be incredible, he was supportive and encouraging throughout and was overall great

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

4/5
I understand the processes of lean manufacturing a lot better, and use things like 5S at work which I learned about from my lean manufacturing course

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
there are occasional pub quizzes, sport events such as football games, charity events, and Christmas parties
