Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a vehicle damage paint apprentice, I have spent lots of time doing placements in and around the paintshop where I learnt the processes of the different areas of paint, such as preparation, masking, two-tone, spraying which is my main part of my role and what im going to college to learn.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme has been a really great opportunity for me to get to know my role and the business to a very high standard. they have been really supportive in what id like to achieve out of the role and the prospects i have for the future and i have thoroughly enjoyed the placements i have been in so far and whats next for the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt lots of new skills such as paint spraying. I go to college and learn this skill on a weekly block. this skill is something i thoroughly enjoy and theres lots of room for development. As part of my placement i have learnt defect analysis, masking, preparation, polishing, sanding.

very well structured, lots of support.

lots of support, I feel if i ever have an issue its addressed very quickly.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

my trainers both at my college are very supportive and good along with my trainer who comes to my workplace, as hes very supportive and great at keeping us updated with the apprentiship programme.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Going to college has allowed me to understand my role and the skills needed far better as its allowed me to understand new processes, the principles of how to pass my apprenticeship, how to spray effectively, and the general knowledge of my role

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

the apprenticeship network has allowed me to work on extra curricular activities such as attending school events, mock assessment centres. and even spending time with new friends and colleagues outside of work.
