As a nursery assistant, I support the care, safety, and development of young children in a nurturing environment. I help plan and set up activities, support children during play and learning, assist with meals and hygiene, and ensure the space is safe and clean. I also work with staff to observe children’s progress and support their development.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my Level 3 apprenticeship as it helps me learn new skills while gaining experience working with children. It is rewarding to support their development, and it has helped me grow in confidence.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my Level 3 childcare apprenticeship, I have developed new skills in safeguarding, planning activities, and carrying out observations to support children’s development. I have also improved my communication, teamwork, organisation, and confidence when working with children, parents, and colleagues. Overall, the experience has helped me become more skilled and professional in supporting children’s learning and care.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is well structured, combining work in the setting with off-the-job learning. I am learning to balance both work and study, which can sometimes be difficult, but it helps me develop my skills and apply my knowledge in practice.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive limited support from my employer, so I often have to manage my tasks and learning independently. However, I still gain experience through daily work in the setting, which helps me develop my skills and complete my apprenticeship requirements.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive some support from my training provider when working towards my qualification, mainly through feedback and progress checks. However, most of my learning is done independently, so I have to stay organised and manage my work to meet deadlines.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My qualification helps me to perform better in my role by giving me useful knowledge and skills that I can apply in the setting. It improves my understanding of child development, safeguarding, and planning activities, which helps me develop my practice and support children more effectively.
