As an Operations Manager within the Lancashire County Council Highways team, I am responsible for overseeing the delivery of day‑to‑day highway operations across the county. This includes managing teams, coordinating maintenance and improvement works, and ensuring services are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with agreed budgets, policies, and performance standards.
> The role involves working closely with contractors, stakeholders, and internal departments to plan and prioritise works, resolve operational issues, and maintain compliance with health and safety requirements. I also contribute to service improvement, performance monitoring, and supporting staff development to ensure high‑quality outcomes for Lancashire’s road network and communities.

I enjoy the Construction Project Management degree at the University of Salford as it links academic learning directly to real‑world practice. The course content is relevant to my role, covering key areas such as project planning, cost management, risk, health and safety, and contract management.

Through the Construction Project Management degree, I have developed key skills in project planning, cost and budget management, risk assessment, and contract and health and safety management.
