Overview of Experience

Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.

I worked in different teams across the four weeks who gave me tasks and assisted me with some work. All the tasks were basic audit steps that give you a good insight into what an audit job would be like if you carried on working in the sector. Received help at every point and was always made to feel welcome and that what I was doing was important.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?

Everyone wanted you to know as much as you could so you can decide if it is the role for you. Everyone was very open about their experiences with the job and all the different paths that are available in the future. Open and honest was truly helpful in deciding if I would enjoy it.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

New skills I have learnt include how to collaborate in a work from home / office environment when you are not in person with your team. Very much solidified excel skills which are very easily taught and you can do learning modules on it. Also learnt how to professionally communicate with clients

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

Everyone I worked with was so helpful. Everyone I asked a question to would go through with me exactly how to do it and made sure I understood it and kept checking up even if I had no questions. They value asking so you know you’re on the right path. Work environment is really nice in the office. Everyone chatty and pleasant to be around

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy the insight?

The insight was a really enjoyable experience. I met a lot of people in the same boat as myself and it was nice to make friends also from the company. The people I met made the experience enjoyable but also the work.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG

The company see themselves as very tech driven. In interviews etc. bring this up if it is something that you enjoy and want to talk about, and how it can impact the company in the future. Be yourself and ask lots of questions. No question is a stupid question. Don’t be afraid as no one ever expects you to know everything, it’s just an added bonus if you do!
