Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am an area manager within Shared Lives and I am responsible for overseeing 5 staff who manage placements. My role is the overall oversight of my area, supervision of staff, monitoring and maintaining governance, quality, in line with CQC standards and regulations.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I am learning a lot through my programme which will help me to progress in future senior managment roles.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt a lot about governance, regulatory processes, resource management, increased my knowledge of management skills and also learnt from peer reviews within the group.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

We have a monthly session which is booked in for the year so we know when we are expected into college. An assignment is set every session to be completed by the next session. We have 3 monthly progress reviews with our assessor and are kept up to date with expected standards.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer are very supportive and provide me time and mentoring to complete my apprenticeship.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

My training provider are fantastic and work with me to complete tasks at a faster pace when I want to.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I have learnt a lot which enhances my management skills, knowledge and overall performance.
