Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

4/5
My role in Customer Development – Category Management (Channels) focuses on supporting category growth by analysing data, understanding shopper behaviour, and working closely with cross‑functional teams. I help ensure our categories are ranged, priced, and positioned effectively across different customer channels.
Day to day, I analyse sales and market data to track performance and identify opportunities. I support category reviews, range changes, and promotions by building clear, insight‑driven reports and presentations. I work closely with sales, marketing, and supply chain teams, and help support customer discussions to ensure category plans align with both customer and business goals.

The programme has helped me develop my commercial understanding, confidence, and professional skills, while gaining exposure to different teams and ways of working.

I have also developed my commercial awareness and confidence by applying learning directly to real business projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is well organised and structured. The split of four days working and one day at university meets the apprenticeship requirements and provides a good balance between practical experience and academic learning. This structure allows me to apply what I learn at university directly to my role, making the overall experience both manageable and effective.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I receive a good level of support from my employer. My manager and team are approachable and provide guidance when needed, alongside regular check‑ins to support my development. I also receive flexibility and encouragement to balance my work responsibilities with my university commitments, which helps me get the most out of the programme.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

4/5
Yes, I receive good support from my training provider. They provide clear guidance, regular check‑ins, and useful resources to help me stay on track with my coursework and assessments. This support makes it easier to manage my qualification alongside my work responsibilities.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
The qualification helps me perform better in my role. The modules align closely with my day‑to‑day responsibilities in the workplace, allowing me to apply the knowledge and skills I learn directly to real tasks and projects. This alignment strengthens my understanding, supports my development, and helps me add more value in my role.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
Yes, there are many extra‑curricular activities to get involved in at work. These include social events, networking opportunities, and internal communities, which help build connections across the business and enhance both personal and professional development
