Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I do a mixture of testing, building and writing SOPs, both creating and updating existing ones. I build and test to complete orders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Creating Procedures is fun, however building can get repetitive and testing often has short deadlines that can be unrealistic for an apprentice with little experience to complete in the time listed.
However, building items that require planning and thinking with more limited information is very fun.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I mainly learnt people skills through creating SOPs, as I would have to communicate with builders and testers to break a problem down and make it more readable.
I also learnt fitting techniques and fault finding through building and testing.
However, there may be a lack of training on certain aspects, such as fault finding as a whole as most of it would be either self taught, or rushed as orders can be mismanaged and put out late, resulting in not having as much time to familiarise with products and techniques.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I have a general idea of what I am doing, but I am mainly doing orders as they come rather than actually doing a structured plan. The idea of doing SOPs was on a whim, as I decided to create one for a product that didn't have one to begin with.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My supervisor is generally understanding, but the pressure of constant orders can end result in the apprentices not getting the necessary support at times, and a lack of information can leave us feeling a little lost.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

We can ask for and occasionally get days off for study.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Particularly with electrical schematics, I would feel that my college work has helped dramatically, and with the health and safety training I have done, it results in a safer workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
