Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I'm currently in the second year of my apprenticeship, where I spend 4 days in the workplace and 1 day in college. I'm currently in my third placement as an Apprentice Maintenance Technician and I'm thoroughly enjoying my work.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Overall, I'd say I thoroughly enjoy my apprenticeship and the work I complete. The vast majority of the people I've been learning off of since September I've got along with really well and have been willing to help teach me the skills I require for the job - which makes the job thoroughly enjoyable.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I started work here at 16 straight from school with little to no prior engineering experience. I have learnt a wide range of new skills and my confidence has grown massively.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I'd say the program is well structured from my experience, It's clear what is expected of you as an apprentice and how you go about your work on site and at college is also outlined from the very beginning.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer offers a significant amount of support both on site and at college which I greatly appreciate.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

In my opinion I'd say I receive a sufficient amount of support from my training provider.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My training provider taught me the fundamental engineering skills in my first year of the apprenticeship program which significantly helped me going into my first placements.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I participated in the Swindon Half Marathon with BMW Group in September to raise money for the Prospect Hospice, I have also partaken in Charity Fundraising events across plant. Me and some other apprentices travelled to Portugal in April of last year which we all enjoyed and I'm looking forward to doing something similar again in the future.
