Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves me going around different areas within our site, learning how all the different machinery works and spending the time with my team learning how to fix anything that breaks and how we complete regularly scheduled maintenance.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

It is a good program with positive support from managers both in charge of apprentices and the ones in charge of our placements.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have managed to learn a large variety of skills and continue to improve them over the 3.5 years that i have been here.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

We have an online website that shows us all the information needed for the apprenticeship including our placement plan, holiday dates as well as any training courses we have been booked on and much more.
We also have weekly catch up meetings with our apprentice manager as well as start and end of placement meetings to check our progress in each of the areas.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

there is always a manager around either in person or by phone to assist us if we need it and a HR building for any more pressing issues.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have regular meetings to support my course work that i am working on as well as dedicated time for it to be completed.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It taught me alot of the basic skills that i not use in a day to day basis for each of the jobs I work on.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

As an apprentice we have a charity team that organise events as well as some other company wide charity events such as a bake off.

They have a good support system to guide us through the apprenticeship and all of the teams are welcoming when we are in the various areas.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
There are always more chances to apply, if you dont get in first try then there is always a chance to try again at another time.
