Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The internship was an intense and immerse virtual programme. On any given day, we would have talks from senior leaders all over Goldman, participate in firm-wide programming and hear from MDs who familiarised us with the nature of their work. The afternoons and evenings were then spent doing group preparation for our presentations and individual Summer Interview.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Great. I felt like the length and intensity of the programme allowed us to gain a deep understanding of the firm, its culture, its emphasis on mentorship and its people.

Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
Yes. The high-calibre nature of the case studies allowed for a great degree of learning on the strategic considerations surrounding M&A transactions or equity raising. It was especially valuable to debrief on the case studies post-presentations with senior bankers who shared how they would have ultimately advised their client in question.

Despite the programme being virtual, this may just have been the best internship programme I ever had the chance to complete.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Goldman Sachs Group
Do your homework and draft an application tailored to the company and its unique culture, dealflow and position as an underwriter, investor and financial adviser. Be proactive and speak to as many people as possible ahead of applying. Keep an eye out for complementary programmes. And be sure you stand out in your application!
