Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

On a day to day basis, I work with customers, spend time on the till as well as shop floor continuously learning new things on the job. As part of my apprenticeship I also complete 2 hours a week on a tablet working through modules building my knowledge and skills which help me alongside my role.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have so far really enjoyed the program, as it allows me to learn new skills while gaining real work experience. I find the training modules useful and relevant, and they help me build my confidence and understanding of the role alongside my day to day work.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have developed my confidence, particularly when interacting with customers, which has continued to improve as my product knowledge has grown since starting. I have also strengthened my technology skills by learning how to use store equipment such as HHT’s and tills. Alongside this, my apprenticeship training has helped build my overall knowledge and understanding of retail.

The programme is well organised and structured, combining practical work in store with dedicated time each week to complete apprenticeship modules. The training is easy to follow and supports what I am learning in my role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a great level of support from my employer, with help available if needed and time provided to complete my apprenticeship work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a great level of support from my training provider, with regular check-ins. The resources and modules are clear and easy to follow, which supports me in working towards my qualification.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role by improving my knowledge and understanding of key retail topics. The modules link well to my work in store, helping me on a day to day basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are some opportunities to get involved in outside of core duties, such as charity fundraising events for Marie Curie. The company also uses UKG Pro as an internal platform to share store updates and relevant posts. There are also development programmes like Step Up and Lead On, which are currently available to support progression into roles such as Assistant Manager or Store Manager.
