Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I complete placements in different areas of the factory so my day-to-day changes depending on where I am. Currently, i complete process changes on the line, ensure the line is ready for new engine derivatives, complete expert meetings and general process and line knowledge.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy my apprenticeship as everyday i learn something new and this is preparing myself for my future role. Everyday is different and i always have something to do. I have learnt lots of new skills, lots of engine knowledge, and feel more confident in meetings and completing jobs.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt numerous new skills, such as how to strip engines, work on HMI screens, how to fix robot breakdowns and use digital tools. I have a lot more engineering knowledge now and feel much more confident dealing with problems in the workplace and think of solutions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is well structured as we have placement plans which allow us to join different departments in the factory to expand our knowledge and gain a wide variety of skills. I had lots of support with my placement plan and know when exactly i join each department and how long i am there. When i first started, there was confusion as to where i was working as i didnt know i had a production specialist role until around 6 months in but this got sorted quickly and now i am comfortable.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I have lots of support from my employer, any issues are dealt with quickly and if i have any questions they are answered quickly. We have monthly catchups to make sure we are happy and havent got any issues and to check in with progress we are making.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Support from the training provider is limited, the course isn't very well organised as we still have outstanding lessons to complete for our previous apprenticeship year and this doesn't seem to be getting dealt with.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
My qualifications help me a lot in my role as it has provided me with knowledge that i have used in everyday work such as CAD skills and material knowledge. Due to some subjects still not being completed such as PLC's i do lack knowledge that would be useful.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I have completed school visits and careers fair to help get younger people into apprenticeships and help advertise BMW Group. There is a football team that employees can join and teams such as charity teams, newsletter teams to help fundraise and network with apprentices across the UK. I am currently on the newsletter team.
