Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Working in plant, I enjoy the various different roles I encounter on a day-to-day. Some placements need to be tweaked, due to the long nature of each placement.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the day-to-day work, good variety of jobs.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Plenty of opportunity to gain new skills with tools and knowledge around machinery.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
Unfortunately, planning can be vague especially for certain apprentices as many mentors are unaware they are mentors and therefore are unable to fully cater and support a training environment. A few of the placements are not suitable for the job role or unable to gain the necessary skills from if we were to have a dedicated apprentice trainer, or set roles and locations until we had a good baseline.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
We don't have a dedicated apprentice manager on site at all times. Often times difficult to have rooms arranged for apprentices. No fault of the people in the roles.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
Improved lately due to new onsite from BMET who is helping getting everyone back on track.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I feel the skills learnt in BMET were not as transferrable in the workplace, having to relearn many of the skills gained from college.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Plenty of opportunity to join various extra-curricular activities, such as Charity team, newsletter, after work sports, gym circuits and more.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
No
Why?
Unfortunately due to the current structure of the apprenticeship.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Have an open mind and be willing to learn from those who have much more experience, do plenty of research about the role and the history of the plant.
