Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Mondays - I go to college to complete my foundation degree.
Tuesday - Friday - Work from plant in different areas every 3 months, get to learn about what the other depts do, have small projects to complete.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the programme a lot, the college part is the only let down.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
From Plant, I've learnt heaps about engineering and different areas across the plant.
College, I've learnt some but not a lot of new content.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The college organisation is extremely poor, the Plant's structure is ok. It's down to my placement manager to organise, he's really good at it. Some of the placements are a bit disorganised though.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
Receive a good amount of support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
James Watt College is the training provider, the support from them is extremely poor. The college continuously lets the class down every week.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
It teaches me patience and how to be independent. It hasn't taught me any content, I've taught myself the content needed for assignments.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there's lots of different things to get involved in.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BMW Group UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
There's lots of good perks and opportunities, the college service is really poor. I think I'd recommend people to go to University and try for the grad programme, more so than the apprenticeship. It can be challenging but overall it's a good experience.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
Try and get some work experience prior if you can.
