Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am in my second year so this involves 4 days a week in placement and 1 day a week travelling to the Oxford plant to complete my foundation degree. In placement my day to day role involves working with data and using reports to present findings as this is something that interests me, as well as carrying out any task asked for by my placement manager. Each placement lasts 3 months and you get out what you put in when it comes to placements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The apprenticeship is very fun and interesting with many opportunities available to us. For example, I got the opportunity to visit parliament to talk about and promote automotive apprenticeships.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
We have learned so many new skills through this apprenticeship, the main one being networking and learning to communicate with colleagues in the workplace and how to present to leadership and work on projects individually or as a team. In first year we spent a year in the workshop learning hands-on skills such as milling, turning, electronics, PLCs and electrical work. Alongside this we are always learning in our foundation degree program through modules such as maths, business and CAD. Next year we will build on these skills when we start the top-up degree.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure is nice because you are eased into the workplace slowly with full time college in the first year, only coming into work during college holidays or for events. Then in second year you start rotating round placements throughout the business to give you the widest possible knowledge and understanding. The support is felt from the business, our training manager and our placement managers.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
We receive great amounts of support from our employer as they are constantly providing opportunities for us to succeed and develop us to be the best we can be. There is always someone we can go to if we need support with anything.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The support from the training provider isn't great because the teaching standards can be quite poor. Some tutors are great and will do everything they can to help whereas others don't.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are lots of activities to get involved in. For example there is a newsletter team, charity team, charity events to get involved in such as football matches, half marathons, fundraisers, baking competitions.
