Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Nomura Spring Insight Programme was a truly enriching experience. Over the course of the week, I attended presentations across M&A, Leveraged Finance, and ECM, and was heavily involved in a case study simulating a live M&A transaction, encompassing financial modelling, valuation, and a final pitch to senior bankers. It confirmed my strong interest in pursuing a career in investment banking.
How would you rate the structure of the insight

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was genuinely eye-opening. Hearing directly from bankers across divisions, M&A, LevFin, ECM, about their roles and career paths made everything feel very tangible. It reinforced my conviction that front-office advisory, particularly M&A and Leveraged Finance, is exactly where I want to build my career.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
The programme sharpened my financial modelling and valuation skills through the hands-on case study, and pushed me to communicate complex analysis clearly under pressure. On the Global Markets side, I gained exposure to how trading desks operate and how market dynamics feed directly into advisory work. I hadn’t fully appreciated before. More broadly, it developed my ability to think like a banker: structuring problems quickly, synthesising information, and presenting with conviction.
