Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as a senior support worker is to work alongside the management team and the staff team to bridge that gap and ensure there is clear communication on both sides. this job role enables me to do management tasks such as audits, supervisions with staff and much more. my usual day to day tasks include shift lead/handovers which involves managing the staff on shift to ensure the people we support are getting the most out of their care and are feeling fulfilled and empowered in their day to day lives this could include planning day trips out or something as simple as ensuring that client has an hour listening to their favourite music. I also monitor staff performance to ensure that staff are doing the task within their job role and any others delegated to them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I would say personally in my own opinion that voyage care is a great company to work for, I've never had any problems or issues that have been unable to be resolved. My operations manager has been extremely supportive throughout and has continued to go above and beyond, I honestly cant thank her enough.

How well organised/structured is your programme?

I would say it isn't very structured or organised but that is by no fault of voyage, personally I've had issues with Paragon skills and their delay in response and support this hasn't helped me progress at all. the course itself is very hands off and for the learner to teach themselves
How much support do you receive from your employer?

As I mentioned earlier I've had the upmost support from my operations manger, she has been constantly supportive throughout me moving from support worker to senior and during my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

As i mentioned earlier, the tutors are very hands off the learning plan is not structured or organised therefore it is a very hands off program which does make it quite difficult if you do run into any issues as there is a delay in response.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

definitely has helped me improved within my job role as it has provided me insight and understanding to why different policies and procedures are in place and why they are needed.

Why?
Because they are a great company to work for, Voyage is very supportive of upskilling staff members and helping staff to grow in their careers throughout voyage there are a range of different opportunities varying from registered nursing, support work, brain injury, learning disability care for adults and children, the list really does go on.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to VOYAGE Care?
Be yourself and ensure you actually read up on Voyage care and ensure you have a clear understanding of what job you would like to apply for and why.
