Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at Savills?
Good learning experience. Lots of opportunity and resources if you put yourself out there. You can get involved with more than just the job, which helps to build your connections and vary your experiences.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
Main responsibilitues of the role depends on the team you are in. But the premise remains the same. Often assisting colleagues in tasks, your involvement will depend on how much you advocate for yourself and how much you put yourself out there. In my current role in valuations I help with inspections, prepare due diligence, gather comparables, and assist in drafting client reports.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
3/5
Depends on the manager.
How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?
3/5
As a graduate you recieve some benefits but a lot of the main benefits are not explained to you, especially as someone in this career for the first time. For instance, pension scheme and rewards programmes.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?
3/5
I have good experience but there is little practical guidance on how to progress from graduate to senior surveyor.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
3/5
Some days the work can be repetitive which is why you are responsible for advocating for the work you need, or want to try. Teams are busy and will often not consider this on your behalf.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?
3/5
HR is generally fine. My supervisor for my APC is helpful, and once again support depends on the team.
How is your work-life balance?
4/5
Again, depends on the team. Some teams are busier than others and expect you to be in early and leave late. But on average it's not terrible. If you enjoy the work and your team you are willing to stay behind to help.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?
3/5
General friendly atmosphere. Depends on the people and team.
How would you rate Savills initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?
3/5
There are initiatives, and the graduate scheme is relatively varied in terms of the mix of cognates and non-cognates, and women and men, and people of colour. This decreases as you increase in seniority, but I believe they are trying to change these stereotypes and make Savills, as well as the industry, less of a boy's club and more diverse.
How would you rate Savills CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?
3/5
There are volunteering initiatives, such as taking a day to volunteer but this does not seem well enforced and is dependent on the individual and teams.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The experience you recieve I believe does outweigh any negatives, and the opportunities are partially down to you to attain.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
3/5
The recruitment process was fairly clear, but there were 2 major aspects that I believe were misleading. It is stated that Savills graduates have the chance to take on rotations abroad. Since my time here in September 2024, I have not heard of one graduate doing this. Additionally, when reaching out to HR to understand if this was still available, it was explained that the process is difficult to implement. Despite this, they advertised this as an option during the recruitment process, when clearly it has not been enforced. Additionally, the promise of a job when you complete the graduate scheme is not as regimented. There are not enough jobs to go around, and whilst HR claim they will assist you, many graduates leave upon completing their qualification.
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to Savills?
Be yourself, and do not worry if you are not the 'cliche' applicant for a real estate job.
