Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work over two divisions, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Children’s Services Operational Policy and National Delivery Unit (SCOND) that oversee a suite of support programmes designed to improve SEND and Children’s services in local areas. We work with a diverse range of partners to ensure effective delivery of support programmes and ensure value for money through contract and programme management.
I undertake project work to develop the framework and processes that support the way in which we work; to ensure efficient and effective delivery and continuous improvement. Working across regions and teams to share knowledge and expertise.
I provide essential administrative support across SEND/ Children’s Social Care joint governance and programmes by supporting commercial processes, maintaining accuracy of data, helping with unit, supplier and board level meetings by drafting agendas, circulating papers, taking minutes, capturing actions and risks and setting up meetings in diaries. I am also involved in managing official, parliamentary correspondence and briefings and work to develop and maintain excellent knowledge management and communications.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
There are elements of the role such as briefing that I do not enjoy and struggle to align with other aspects of the roll. However I enjoy being part of the changes that occur in the division and the level of oversight our programme office has.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have been leaning about project management, I have been able to use many of the skills that I haven't learnt and continue to develop them through my work. For example change management, Benefits management. understanding the project environment.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My work and programme don't always align, which I do find tricky, however I have great support from my manager.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I currently work part time, my employer is considerate of this and has given me the time I need. I recently had a break in learning when I was feeling overwhelmed, which was a great help as I was able to rest and regroup, before coming back ready to continue.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider has been helpful, and understanding as I have not always met deadlines, they continue to be helpful and encouraging.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The new learning has helped me to have a base knowledge, when enacting changes. it has also helped me to understand the business environment, and how I can use my skills to help my organisation.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are support networks and extra- curricular activities to get involved in, these are often circulated via email or on teams. We have really strong professional networks that have regular teachings and networking events to help you develop and continue to challenge yourself.
