Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was part of several teams over my 4 weeks of the internship where I worked to complete the audits for our clients. This would involve testing the data we had been given by the client against our data we had collected to make sure everything was correct before they published their financial statement to Companies House.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was effectively another first year within the team so I did what everyone else got to do, I was in all the meetings and was treated like one of them which was so nice of them to go to such lengths for someone who was there for such a short time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I learnt and developed upon so many skills over the 4 weeks I was there. In particular, my analytical skills were tested when searching data to try to find any inconsistencies that could have a profound effect on our conclusion, and my communication skills were developed due to precise constant communication with the client to find what we needed without wasting their time

I had constant support when needed from all other members of the team and also on a more personal level with my people leader and my buddy that Deloitte set up before hand.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

It was extremely welcoming and caring so that anyone from any background could feel like part of the team. The general atmosphere was relatively professional but once you got to know people it was extremely friendly and enjoyable.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

It was the best thing I have ever done! I was unsure on what I wanted to do with my Mathematics degree but now I am completely set on my future with Deloitte.
