Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in the IT Project Management department, where I support IT change projects across Savills. My day‑to‑day role involves identifying ways to address business problems or opportunities by working closely with business users. This includes gathering their requirements, understanding current pain points, and translating these into clear, structured requirements that the development team can use to design and build effective solutions.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
The programme focuses on using AI solutions to address business problems and opportunities. While I have found parts of it interesting, particularly learning more about AI, a significant portion of the content covers Business Analyst fundamentals such as process mapping, requirements elicitation, documentation, analysis, and prioritisation. As this aligns closely with what I already do day to day, it hasn’t introduced much that is new for me. However, I think the programme would be very valuable for participants who are not currently working in a Business Analyst role.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have developed some existing skills and gained exposure to new ones. The programme has helped reinforce my core Business Analyst skills, such as process mapping, requirements elicitation, documentation, and prioritisation. While these are skills I already use day to day, the programme has strengthened my confidence in applying them consistently. I have also gained new knowledge around how AI can be used to support and enhance business analysis activities, which has helped me think differently about solving business problems and identifying opportunities.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
The programme is well structured, with two one‑hour sessions each week. However, in addition to the taught sessions, we are expected to commit at least eight hours per week in total to complete coursework and tasks.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive good support from my line manager, who allows me to use work time to complete the required programme activities.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
We have a dedicated coach from the training provider and I have 121 sessions with the leader that runs the weekly sessions to discuss ideas about what I should cover in my portfolio
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The qualification supports my role to a moderate extent. It has helped reinforce core Business Analyst skills that I already use in my role, such as understanding business problems, eliciting and documenting requirements, and analysing processes. The main added value for me has been developing a better understanding of how AI solutions can be applied in a business context, which has helped me think more broadly about problem‑solving. However, as much of the content overlaps with my existing experience, the impact on my day‑to‑day performance has been limited.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
None for the members of this Apprentice programme

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend Savills to a friend due to its positive culture, supportive management, and opportunities to grow and learn. I was also recommended to work at Savills by a previous employee, which reflects the positive experience people have working here.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
I would advise others applying to Savills to be open, proactive, and curious. Take the time to understand the business and its people, ask questions, and build strong relationships with stakeholders. Being open to learning and adaptable to change is key, as Savills offers a wide range of opportunities to develop skills across different projects and teams.
