Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Mostly my time is spent in college for the first year of the apprenticeship, the only times I am plant is during half terms and when college is on break. I study numerous subjects which include Milling, Turning, Business improvement techniques, Electrical maintenance, fluid power ETC. On a Thursday we have a longer day and study our subjects for level 2 BTEC for this year which includes Maths, Physics, Materials, Electrical principles, Health and safety and PLCs.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I very much enjoy my apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I've learnt a lot since joining BMW especially when I have been in plant. When I have been in plant I have gained a lot of practical standard working procedures and learnt how to avoid bad habits when I have been partaking in practical work. In college I have learnt a lot about new subjects and acquired new skills on the subjects listed previously, equally I have reinforced skills I have learnt prior especially during my BTEC day.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I would overall say it is
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
When needed my employer will supply the necessary support I need.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I feel like there could be some more support in terms of catching up and talking about how we are doing with college work. I just feel distant from plant when in college and have a slight lack in that communication bridge.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I've definitely noticed a high correlation in things I have learnt in college to the practical work I have completed in plant.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Charity team
Football opportunities
Newsletter team
ETC
