Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
my role right now at my apprenticeship involves me going to college and complete all of my work, each day we do something different and improve our skills on industrial equipment like pneumatics, hydraulic and electrical equipment. we also learn how to operate workshop machinery and manufacture parts and components to high tolerances. we also learn all of the health and safety guidelines that are relevant in the workplace. when we are at the Plant we are required to maintain any machinery or equipment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
when I am in Plant I really enjoy working here and find that everyone is helpful when it comes to helping me and other apprentices hone there skills. there is also a lot of high end equipment that improves the standard of the factory and makes the plant a very safe and interesting area to work in. college does provide interesting material however there is a level of disorganisation between tutors and students, also some of the tutors sometimes struggle with the material they are trying to teach.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
some of the knowledge that I have gained from being at college has proved helpful when in the workplace, our hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical work is always useful to know in the workplace as most of the equipment used are powered by these systems, also all of the health and safety knowledge that we gain is extremely relevant to staying safe in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
when at college it is common that sometimes we don't have a room to go whilst we are at college and our work folders and registration numbers have been issued late, however all of the lesson timetables are sent out in advance. when at work it can take a while to find out who we are going to be working with when at plant.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
compared to the years above us in the program it seems like we get less support than what they did, we are not notified of events until late and are sometimes missed out on emails that we meant to be sent to us. we are also not receiving a 1 to 1 with our managers after our block reviews.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
when it comes to our training provider at college we are very well kept up to date with any news that is happening involving the college, they are able to help us out with sending relevant information out when necessary. they also make sure that we have a tutor at all times.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
all of the information that we have acquired whilst completing the qualification has all of the relevant mechanical skills that will help me whilst in the job role. also all of the health and safety guidelines that we got taught have helped us keep safe whilst in our job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
there is a very wide range of extra curricular activities like football, charity work and other activities to provide helpful networking activities, like meeting people from other plants, another thing they provide is the moving scheme which allows people to go and visit another plant in another country for around a month.
