Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Going to college to obtain the skills and knowledge required in the engineering field.
I also go the plant on Thursdays to get some work experience.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my time in the plant. I get paired with a highly trained and qualified engineer. who takes me around and shows me how the system works and what processes to follow when things go wrong.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt how to correctly operate some of the systems in work, learnt the processes to follow when working on some of the machines, I've learnt how to operate some of the machines.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

In terms of the whole programme its excellent but the college we go to just isn't as structured. We weren't made aware of some parts of it or we were tole last minute. It would be better if the college put everything in the right order.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support from my employer is adequate, they check on us sometimes but are often hard to reach when at work.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I think the support from the training provider is good but has a lot of room for improvement. They tend to give out important coms in the last minute.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification is essential to our role. it provides us with the knowledge and adequate skills for the role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The plant has activities like football sessions and a charity team.

Why?
The program in general is great. I provides a good opportunity for young people to gain experience without debt and make money along the way. They offer a company car scheme that really helps young driver. The pension scheme is one of the best in the industry. They also have a gym on site that The people in the plant are helpful sometimes. There is a lot of room for improvement but in my opinion it is a very good opportunity.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group UK?
I would tell anyone applying it's definitely worth applying. It is a good opportunity.
