Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Most days were at college completing our Level 2 AME and Level 3 BTEC engineering, this consists of doing a range of subjects including hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical maintenance, BIT and a bunch of workshop work like milling and lathe, when we are in plant we are paired up with either a qualified technician or older apprentice where we work supervised
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I mostly enjoy the program however the college while being separate to BMW isn't the best as a lot of the lecturers there prefer to just hand you assignments rather than teaching the content first and the college is disorganised as we have had multiple cases of not being told information and having due dates for block reviews dropped on us 3 days before there due in, being in work is good as most of the workers and older apprentices are friendly and helpful

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
since starting the apprenticeship, i have learnt a range of skills including use of workshop equipment such as lathes and mills, maintenance on simple machines in mechanical maintenance and electrical wiring

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
the college is highly disorganised as mentioned earlier including still not being given an EAL reg number, only recently given a X200 document, some tutors also rarely teach and just drop assignments on you, while enjoying my time at plant, its occasionally hard to tell where your meant to be.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
We occasionally have meetings where we can voice our concerns and be critical of the program, we can contact our managers when there is an issue and get a response reasonably quickly, however we don't have one to one meetings as we were informed we would have.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Some lecturers are good and willing to offer support when needed, however its not uncommon to get a lecturer that doesn't want to teach and not offer up support, as mentioned before we often don't get told things in time.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
It teaches us the general skills required for our job allowing us to learn the plant quicker
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
We recently supported a charity event in plant and have a charity team setting up regular charity events
