Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Shadowing a BA and working alongside them on an existing consulting project, with a high likelihood of meeting the client. The learning curve is assisted by completing personal learning objectives, set out over the length of the internship, in order to both learn more about what 'consulting' entails, and set aside time to explore other opportunities within the company. No day is the same, and you are fully supported along this journey.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes - by the end of the 2nd week I was already leading design review meetings, updating user stories on ADO, and had visited the client site.
Not a single task was set to merely to keep me busy; every action had a direct consequence on the project. As a result, I was constantly supported by the rest of the team. I'm very grateful to have had the opportunity to literally learn on the job.

Support and Guidance
How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I could not have had a better support system. My mentor, as well as the rest of the team, were very sensitive when pushing me outside of my comfort zone - whilst I felt constantly challenged, it was never to the extent of being beyond my capabilities. They constantly checked in on me, and I always had a person to talk to, even about the emotional ups and downs of being in a corporate environment for the first time. The culture at Deloitte is really exceptional, and nothing like I expected (in the best of ways!)

Company Culture
What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
It is not a usually hierarchical company; everyone, from the Analysts to the Directors, were friendly, down to earth, and extremely welcoming. Everyone was willing to give me ~15min of their time to offer advice/ talk about their experiences/ introduce me to new connections. In my 4 weeks, not a single person working at Deloitte made me feel inferior. When I say everyone was lovely - it is the absolute truth.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I loved it! I met some incredible people with whom I still keep in touch - both from the intern cohort, and from the existing employees. Being fortunate enough to have been offered a graduate role, which I accepted immediately, may also serve as an indication to my enjoyment of the process.

What advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte
Be honest throughout the application process, especially during the personality screening. Remember: not only is the company looking to see whether you'd be the right fit for them, but you should also try to gauge whether the company is the right fit for you.
Also, be open to anything. Despite having a social science background, I applied for a technological role on the off-chance I'd like it. And I ended up loving it.
