Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

The role was very similar to that of a trainee. I was asked to assist lawyers in drafting various documents and proofreading, and had the chance to attend a client call.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I was given an appropriate level of responsibility during the internship. I was allowed to take ownership of the tasks I was assigned but was provided help and guidance when I needed it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

The internship gave me the opportunity to really understand what it is like to be a commercial lawyer. I feel as though I've learned to pay stronger attention to detail and very much developed my commercial awareness.

Everyone was willing to help or just have a chat about the firm and their practice area. 10/10 would be an amazing place to work.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The culture was very supportive and friendly, and we were encouraged to take ownership of our internship. It's very much a 'you get out of it what you put into it' environment, and innovation and creativity are strongly encouraged.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I fell in love with the firm throughout the internship. They are very inclusive and encourage everyone to have a good work-life balance. A lot of firms say this and don't mean it, but Deloitte really puts it into practice.
