Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
Four days in the office. We were assigned a practice area from our top three choices and a trainee supervisor each. Over the course of the scheme, we were assigned real (!!) work by our supervisor to complete, and took part in practice area workshops alongside our supervisors (contracts, drafting, corporate criminal...). Between work, we attended talks on various parts of Macfarlanes (lawtech, ESG, CSR...) and took part in a negotiation class and practice. Fab feedback from supervisors all the way through.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
Phenomenal scheme—the only law scheme out there for first years that genuinely lets you get a feel for what life at a law firm is like. Super well organised with an amazing Early Careers Team, friendly trainees and a genuine sense that people wanted you to succeed.

Negotiation workshop was fantastic. Learnt about drafting and how to compose client emails; developed legal research skills; got familiar with doc management software.

Everyone so friendly! Partners, senior associates, junior associates, trainees... everyone was approachable and so warm!
